Non-Object is a work in progress undertaken at the Royal College of Art. A public installation placed in the context of a city square - a place where the quantity of people fluctuates at different times of the day.
It explores the theory of multiple objects creating an environment. It explains that what you place an object next to is more important than the object itself. This theory can be looked into at different scales, from the details that make up an object, to objects within an environment, to environments themselves. It can also be looked at with every aspect of an object e.g. materials and colour.

Using reflection as the tool I created an installation that is perceived to not exist. The reflection distorts the piece and creates it's own skin by reflecting the environment that surrounds it.

Using proximity sensors and Arduino, Non-Object senses when an object is within range and reveals itself by lighting up its frame - showing its structure.
The colours change depending on how close an object is, which constantly redefines it through colour.
